Week beginning 11th July  This will be the last blog for this year, I hope you have found it useful! Mrs Simpson also has a blog that she uses in Class 2 so all is not lost! I just want to say how grateful I am to have taught your lovely children this year. They are all amazing and I know they will love their new class/new teachers! It has been an absolute privilege to watch them develop into confident and resilient learners and I will miss them dearly.  This week we have been:  In Phonics we been recapping lots of the words we have read this term and have been writing sentences with them in.  Tricky words in Phonics have been: recapping all of them!  Week beginning 24th June  What a lovely week we have had! Albeit a bit too hot at times, but we are much happier when the sun is shining!!  Week beginning 13th May I was so sad to miss our school trip! But thanks to Mr Howard it all ran smoothly, and I was told that the children were amazing. Week beginning 30th April Another busy week here at school! Week beginning 16th April Welcome back to school! Here we are in Summer term already! The children have settled back into the routines well and have loved sharing all the lovely things they got up to in the holidays. I hope you all managed to have a lovely and restful break.  You should have received an overview of our topic for the whole of Summer term which details what we will be covering until July.  Week beginning 25th March And just like that we are 2/3 through the year! What a busy term we have had, it seems to have gone by very quickly. I heard that the children had a lovely time with Mrs Neal, Mrs Simpson and Mrs Barnes and I received lots of lovely comments about their behaviour and learning which was lovely!   Week beginning 11th March Don't the weeks just fly by! We have been practicing our 'hop hop hop' song for the Church service this week which the children have loved! When we had our class photo taken the photographers said "that was the best Reception class we have had for a long time" - what a lovely comment to hear!  Next week the children will be greeted by Mrs Simpson as I will be with Class 4 before we leave for PGL. They will be having Mrs Simpson for the mornings, apart from Thursday where they will have Mrs Barnes all day (this is a nice transition for them to go up into Class 2 in September) and a mixture of Mrs Neal and Mrs Barnes for the afternoons.  Week beginning 4th March Another very busy and very lovely week in Class 1 :) We have been busy making some lovely Mother's Day bits for the children to give to you on Sunday. The children have really impressed me with their reading this week, their confidence has grown throughout this term, thank you for your support this week.  This week we have been: reading longer words - muffin, pattern, buzzer, better. We are still recapping our taught sounds and the children are doing well at remembering these, we are practicing using them when we are reading new words.  exploring longer and shorter and finding objects that are longer than another and then shorter than another.  practicing our subitising of numbers, going up to 10. exploring the story 'After the Fall' which is based around Humpty Dumpty, we did this as a school for World Book Day and the children completed writing and drawing activities based on it.  Phonics:   We have now learnt all of the phase 2 ...

 Week beginning 26th February  It is just a short blog this week :) I hope you all had a lovely half term break, the children have loved sharing all the different things they have gotten up to! It won't be long until the next one when we will hopefully have some sunshine!  The children settled back into our routines well and I have noticed how grown up they seem, they have now completed half of the school year! Doesn't it fly by!  This week we have been: recapping taught sounds and reading lots of words with digraphs in practicing our knowledge of tricky words comparing length in maths - finding items that are longer and shorter.  helping an injured triceratops on our dinosaur island.  in drawing club we have been watching Popeye and drawing wonderful things from it - like Popeye, the spinach factory, something that would be too heavy for Popeye to pick up.  Nursery: in listening time this week we have been doing what is in the box looking at the sound...

Week beginning 5th February  This week despite the rain we have had a lovely week :) We have been busy in our Mantle sessions as we begin our work as Scientists on a secret dinosaur Island and will continue this next term. The children have enjoyed having free access to the art area which means they can pick what they want to create and what resources to use.  If anyone has any phonics or badger books at home anywhere please can you bring them back to school.  You may find that your child is bringing a phonics book that they have read before, this is because I have changed the reading groups. Please don't worry about this, even if they read a book they have read before it will help with fluency and their confidence. As when I have read with them this week, even if they have read the book before they still need to sound out some words so it is not too easy for them.  On Monday we will be watching Emma (Seth's Mum) plant a tree in our area, the children are very excite...

 Week beginning 29th January  This week the children have been very busy, being creative in the small world area making, painting fossils, painting, making AB and ABB patterns, creating their own junk modelling - the list goes on! The children are getting very good at completing their writing job for the writing box and are starting to do this more independently which is fantastic!  Week beginning 22nd January  This week we have continued with our dinosaur topic, the children loved seeing all the fossils that Mrs Aindow bought in to look at. The children have even made their own salt dough fossils which we will paint next week. This week we have been trying hard with our handwriting, making sure that not all letters are the same size. Week beginning 15th January  We have had a busy week in Class 1, especially with me being off poorly for two days I feel like it has flown by! The supply teacher left lovely feedback about the children which was lovely to hear :) The children loved our Science experiment of trying to melt the ice using different ingredients. Week beginning 8th January  Happy new year! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, the children have loved sharing their special memories with each other. I cannot believe we are heading into our third term together, time seems to be flying by!  Week beginning 20.11.23 We have had a very busy 2 weeks in Class 1, especially as we get nearer to Christmas. We have some very excited children (and adults!) The children have been working on some lovely Christmas crafts that they will bring home in their Christmas box next Friday.
