With only 4 days in school. this week has flown by! As I am sure you are aware the children are VERY excited for their school trip next week!

This week we have been: 

  • In Phonics we been focusing on reading longer words, and practicing writing these every day too
  • New tricky words in Phonics have been: there when
  • Nursery Listening time: blend from the box, new sound 'f', recapping taught sounds, clapping out syllables. 
  • Reception- In Maths we have been looking at taking away numbers, and how less means that the number gets smaller. 
  • Nursery - In Maths we have been looking at 3D shapes, exploring cubes, cuboids and cylinders 
  • Reception - In Drawing Club we have watched 'Trap Door' which the children found hilarious! From this we have drawn Berk, the house, a new monster from the trap door and a breakfast for his master. 
  • We had some amazing Mantle sessions where the children had to make a bridge for the Billy Goats to cross and then we worked together to trap the troll!

Reception: how you can help at home: 

  • practicing number bonds to 5 and 10
  • writing sentences, including capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
  • reading with your child 
  • practicing the words your child does at school each week


Nursery: how you can help at home: 
  • practicing letter formation and holding the pencil/pen correctly.
  • sounding words out so they oral blend them. e.g. 'c a t' - they say 'cat' or 'b a t' - they say bat  
  • allowing your child to change themselves in the morning/for bed

Trip Info: 
  • Please ensure your child is on time as we will be leaving at 9:00
  • All children to have their own small rucksack which they will need to wear on the day
  • Please apply suncream at home before school
  • Inside rucksack: pack lunch (if not ordered from Kingswood), water bottle, raincoat (thin one)
Reminders:
  • PE kit for Tuesdays
  • Water bottles everyday
  • Apply sun cream at home and bring your child in with a sunhat. 
Missing books:
  • Lots of Crabs x1

Week beginning 5th February

Week beginning 5th February  This week despite the rain we have had a lovely week :) We have been busy in our Mantle sessions as we begin our work as Scientists on a secret dinosaur Island and will continue this next term. The children have enjoyed having free access to the art area which means they can pick what they want to create and what resources to use.  If anyone has any phonics or badger books at home anywhere please can you bring them back to school.  You may find that your child is bringing a phonics book that they have read before, this is because I have changed the reading groups. Please don't worry about this, even if they read a book they have read before it will help with fluency and their confidence. As when I have read with them this week, even if they have read the book before they still need to sound out some words so it is not too easy for them.  On Monday we will be watching Emma (Seth's Mum) plant a tree in our area, the children are very excite...

Week beginning 13th May

 Week beginning 13th May I was so sad to miss our school trip! But thanks to Mr Howard it all ran smoothly, and I was told that the children were amazing. I am sure they were tired when they got home! I hope to see you all very soon.  This week we have been:  In Phonics we been focusing on reading longer words, and practicing writing these every day too New tricky words in Phonics have been: out and today Nursery Listening time: blend from the box, new sound 'ff', recapping taught sounds, clapping out syllables.  Reception- In Maths we have been looking at shapes, and talking about their properties.
