Week beginning 26.02.24

 Week beginning 26th February  It is just a short blog this week :) I hope you all had a lovely half term break, the children have loved sharing all the different things they have gotten up to! It won't be long until the next one when we will hopefully have some sunshine!  The children settled back into our routines well and I have noticed how grown up they seem, they have now completed half of the school year! Doesn't it fly by!  This week we have been: recapping taught sounds and reading lots of words with digraphs in practicing our knowledge of tricky words comparing length in maths - finding items that are longer and shorter.  helping an injured triceratops on our dinosaur island.  in drawing club we have been watching Popeye and drawing wonderful things from it - like Popeye, the spinach factory, something that would be too heavy for Popeye to pick up.  Nursery: in listening time this week we have been doing what is in the box looking at the sound o,  as well as exploring

Week beginning 5th February

Week beginning 5th February  This week despite the rain we have had a lovely week :) We have been busy in our Mantle sessions as we begin our work as Scientists on a secret dinosaur Island and will continue this next term. The children have enjoyed having free access to the art area which means they can pick what they want to create and what resources to use.  If anyone has any phonics or badger books at home anywhere please can you bring them back to school.  You may find that your child is bringing a phonics book that they have read before, this is because I have changed the reading groups. Please don't worry about this, even if they read a book they have read before it will help with fluency and their confidence. As when I have read with them this week, even if they have read the book before they still need to sound out some words so it is not too easy for them.  On Monday we will be watching Emma (Seth's Mum) plant a tree in our area, the children are very excited about thi

 Week beginning 29th January  This week the children have been very busy, being creative in the small world area making, painting fossils, painting, making AB and ABB patterns, creating their own junk modelling - the list goes on! The children are getting very good at completing their writing job for the writing box and are starting to do this more independently which is fantastic!
