Week beginning 22.01.24

 Week beginning 22nd January  This week we have continued with our dinosaur topic, the children loved seeing all the fossils that Mrs Aindow bought in to look at. The children have even made their own salt dough fossils which we will paint next week. This week we have been trying hard with our handwriting, making sure that not all letters are the same size. The children have been working hard to complete their daily writing job for the writing job, it is great to see them think of their own ideas.  This week we have been: learning new sounds - ur ow oi ear - please practice these at home  looking at fossils  knowing one more than a number  practicing cutting  Phonics:   This week we have learnt the new sounds ur ow oi ear, as we learn trickier words please can I ask that you help your child by practicing these at home. Week Beginning 15.01.24

Week beginning 15th January  We have had a busy week in Class 1, especially with me being off poorly for two days I feel like it has flown by! The supply teacher left lovely feedback about the children which was lovely to hear :) The children loved our Science experiment of trying to melt the ice using different ingredients. They have also made a volcano out of paper mache and are waiting patiently for it to dry before we can decorate it!  This week we have been: learning new sounds - oo oo ar or - please practice these at home  exploring our new topic of Dinosaurs  subitising up to 5 and up to 10 exploring the Artist Van Gogh - we have completed 4 different artworks this week based on his style, the rest of the school is having an art day on Friday (19th) but we have been doing this throughout the week to embed the skills.  Phonics:   This week we have learnt the new sounds ai ee igh oa, as we learn trickier words please can I ask that you help your child by practicing these at home.

Week beginning 08.01.24

Week beginning 8th January  Happy new year! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, the children have loved sharing their special memories with each other. I cannot believe we are heading into our third term together, time seems to be flying by! The children have settled back into school life and I have loved their enthusiasm.  This week we have been: learning new sounds - ai ee igh oa - I have uploaded videos of the children onto tapestry to show their phonics knowledge and their next steps exploring our new topic of Dinosaurs  recgonising the number 0 and using language like "I can see zero" "this is zero because [there are none left]"  creating lots of dinosaur art  Phonics:   This week we have learnt the new sounds ai ee igh oa, as we learn trickier words please can I ask that you help your child by practicing these at home.
