Our learning week beginning 18.09.23

 Week beginning 26.09.22

What a wonderful week we have had! The children have shown me how well they have settled into their new routine and I have loved seeing their confidence grow and their personalities coming out. They really are all amazing!

This week we have been

  • learning new sounds in phonics and remembering the previous ones - s a t p i n m d
  • practicing counting up to 20 and down from 10
  • exploring our new environment and learning how to use resources well
  • learning to share and take turns
  • getting used to the loud noises in the dinner hall and trying new foods
Phonics: we follow the Little Wandle phonics scheme which have a link for parents to access so you can see and hear the sounds that they are learning at the moment. The link is https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/ - the phase 2 sounds autumn 1 and we have learnt s a t p i n m d so far :)

Nursery:

This week nursery children have been
  • recognising their name and have been tracing over their names
  • counting and singing counting songs
  • enjoying their listening time each morning
Here is a link to some of the nursery rhymes that they have been singing during listening time, please feel free to practice these at home https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/

Ways you can help at home:
-helping your child become more independent when changing ready for PE
-reading with your child
-touch counting objects - e.g. lets count how many cars you have

Reading - I hope you and your child are enjoying reading together, I would love each child to read a book at least 3 times a week. At the moment I plan to change books on a Friday and maybe a Monday if they have read over the weekend. Please remember to write in their reading records so I know that they are reading at home. I will soon start group reading where I will read with children in small groups three times a week and then they will bring that book home to share with you confidently (another letter to follow on from this)

Please can I ask that children bring in some wellies to keep at school, we have some in school but they are quite small and old so it would be better for children to bring their own in so they can enjoy playing in the mud.

Reminders:
PE kit for Tuesday
Water bottles in school
All clothing labelled
Please check tapestry to see your child's learning and feel free to share pictures and videos from home

If you have any questions or worries please let me know.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and a lot of rest ready for the start of full time education! :)

Miss Lewis
