We have had good but very tired week at school!

This week we have been 

  • reviewing our learnt phonics sounds 
  • using ten frames and double sided counters to find the number bonds of 5 
  • independently trying to complete maths challenges
  • showing numbers on our fingers in different ways
  • talking about different feelings and when we feel like this 
  • practicing our letter formation 
  • reading with adults
Ways to help at home:
  • read with your child(ren) 3 times a week minimum
  • touch counting 
  • recognising numbers 
  • practice phonics, and blending sounds together

Nursery:

This week nursery children have been
  • exploring phase 1 phonics - focusing on what they can hear in different environments including going outside to see what they can hear 
  • exploring feelings 
  • lots of stories 
  • exploring playdough and seeing what models we can make 

A few reminders: 

  • please can you write in the reading records so we know if your child(ren) have read at home
  • please let us know if the book it too easy/hard for your child, we want to instill a love of reading and therefore the correct book match is important 
  • please watch the phonics videos if you can with your child(ren) - feel free to share photos/videos with me on tapestry 
  • parents evening is next week - I look forward to seeing you all then 
  • next week I am offsite on Tuesday not Wednesday so we will have PE on Wednesday

Welcome back!

First week back 😝 I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a brilliant start to 2023!!  Doesn't the holiday go fast, it seems like before I knew it it was back to work!  When we welcomed the children back into school on Wednesday it was lovely to see them all with a big smile on their face :) I couldn't help but notice how much taller and grown up they are, and found myself feeling a bit sad when I thought how quickly that first term went and how we have already completed a 1/3 of our year together!  This week we have focused on settling back into our routine and catching up with each other. Week beginning 8th July

Week beginning 11th July  This will be the last blog for this year, I hope you have found it useful! Mrs Simpson also has a blog that she uses in Class 2 so all is not lost! I just want to say how grateful I am to have taught your lovely children this year. They are all amazing and I know they will love their new class/new teachers! It has been an absolute privilege to watch them develop into confident and resilient learners and I will miss them dearly.  This week we have been:  In Phonics we been recapping lots of the words we have read this term and have been writing sentences with them in.  Tricky words in Phonics have been: recapping all of them! Week beginning 17th June

 Week beginning 17th June  We have had a lovely week in Class 1, and have loved the sunshine! The children have been busy with their learning.  This week we have been:  In Phonics we been reading words that end in 'es' and that we pronounce this as 'iz'  In Phonics we have been reading the words in our head rather than blending them out loud  Tricky words in Phonics have been: put pull push full my by come some like love do Nursery Listening time: blend from the box, new sounds 'x y z', recapping taught sounds, hearing the end sounds in words, singing nursery rhymes and shared lots of stories.  Reception- In Maths been continuing to share out numbers equally, recognising odd and even numbers and introduced a part part whole model.
